2013 Annual Meeting & Program—Speaker Presentations

    Thank you for making the Agricultural Law Section’s first annual meeting and program on September 19, 2013, a success! Over 50 attorneys registered for the meeting and program. By popular demand, we are posting the PowerPoint presentations that the speakers shared with us during the program.

    James E. Byrum, president of the Michigan Agri-Business Association then gave a State of Agriculture presentation to the group. See presentation.

    The first panel discussion addressed the topic of Government’s Role and Responsibilities. Panelist included: Jim Johnson, director, environmental stewardship division, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Brad Deacon, emergency management/administrative law coordinator, executive office, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Jeff Haarer, producer security and ag products manager, pesticide and plant pest management division, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; and Christine White, state executive director, United States Department of Agriculture, Michigan Farm Service Agency.     The second panel discussion focused on What an Expert Can Do for You and Your Clients. Panelists included: Barb Dartt, partner, GROW: The Family Business Advisors; E. Lynn Pohl, partner, Boge, Wybenga & Bradley, P.C.; Dennis Stein, Saginaw Valley District Farm Management Educator, Michigan State University Extension; William Knudson, product marketing economist, Michigan State University Product Center for Agriculture and Natural Resources.
