2001-2002 Annual Report

Memorandum

    To: State Bar of Michigan
From: Daniel R. Gravelyn, Section Chair
    Date: June 6, 2002
Re: 2002 Activities of Section on Antitrust, Franchising, and Trade Regulation

During fiscal year 2002, the section's activities consisted primarily of preparing and issuing newsletters to section members, supplementing the section's website with links to relevant antitrust sites, monitoring legislation, and organizing a seminar on franchising, scheduled for June 13, 2002. The section council met monthly in support of these activities. Monthly meeting minutes have been prepared and are available. In due course, they will be posted on the section's website.

Most of the efforts of the section council were devoted to organizing the seminar on franchising. The seminar will be co-sponsored with the ABA Committee on Franchising, Section on Antitrust. This jointly sponsored program will feature four nationally recognized experts on franchising and present perspectives from both the plaintiff and the defense Bar on current franchising issues.
