Meeting Minutes

11:15 a.m. on March 23, 2001 at the Detroit Club, Detroit, Michigan

In attendance were M. Boonstra, H. Iwrey, R. Kalisher, S. Berenbaum, D. Chardevoyne, D. White, Brian Masternak, and J. DeLine.

Approval of Minutes
    The Minutes for the February 9, 2001 Council Meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s Report
    R. Kalisher reported that the net Section balance is $23,965, and $7,440 in dues were received.
Committee Reports
  • Franchise Committee
    R. Kalisher reported that the new FTC rules have been published.
  • Newsletter Committee
    J. DeLine reported that the winter 2001 edition of the newsletter had been sent to the State Bar for distribution and was mailed to Section members.
  • Legislative Committee
    M. Boonstra reported on new legislation regarding entertainment agents.
  • Education/Seminar Committee
    FTC Commissioner Thomas Leary is in attendance for today’s presentation at the Detroit Club.
  • Website Committee M. Boonstra reported that the Section Meeting Minutes and newsletters are available on the Section website.
Old Business
    Irwin Alterman will include franchising cases in the next edition of Michigan Antitrust Digest.
New Business
    No new business was reported.
State Bar Communications
    The State Bar requested the Section to nominate a representative to participate in the 3rd Invitational Michigan Bench/Bar Conference on May 24-25, 2001 in Mt. Pleasant. J. DeLine volunteered to attend on behalf of the Section.
Next Meeting
    The next meeting was scheduled for 12:00 p.m., April 24, 2001 at Miller Canfield’s Detroit office.

    Meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
