Meeting Minutes

January 17, 2003, in conjunction with the Great Lakes International Aviation Conference at Kellogg Center on the campus of Michigan State University

Present were Gerald Padilla, Robert Hoeschner, Karl Randall, Ken Bobo, Barry Smith, Eric Richards, Steven Chait, Donald Frank, and Michael F. McKinley.

Minutes

There being no quorum present for the last scheduled meeting, there were no minutes to review or approve.

Section Meetings

The next scheduled meeting is noted to be March 11, 2003.

Treasurer’s Report

Karl Randall reported a current balance of $6,607.95.

Website

Suggestion was made to add a 'practice area' section to the site, highlighting the areas of practice of the members of the section.

Seminars

We will be presenting a seminar on aviation related topics in Traverse City on 13 May and at Pontiac on 14 May. Further details will be provided as specific arrangements are made.

Inner Marker

Don Frank is running low on ideas for this year's InnerMarker and would like some fresh ideas. A request, calling for authors and articles, will be placed on the website. Don needs a 2 month lead time to get the publication actually out.

New Business

The idea of more involvement with the governor's office and the State's policy towards aviation was discussed. Gerry, Barry and Karl will work together in drafting a letter to Governor Granholm expressing the willingness of the Section to participate.

Discussion was held concering an activity at Kalamazoo (AZO), in conjunction with the display of the SR-71B which is coming in June. Discussion was also held concerning the Pontiac (PTK) annual open house, during which it will celebrate 75 years, in conjunction with the Centennial celebration of flight.

Conclusion

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
