Meeting Minutes

March 11, 2003, at Mitch's II Restaurant, across from the Pontiac International Airport (PTK)

In attendance were Karl Randall, Bob Hoschner, Leonard Nagy, Steve Chait, Don Frank, Euel Kinsey and Gerald V. Padilla, presiding. Although a quorum was not present, a number of topics were discussed.

Minutes

The Minutes from the January 2003 meeting were discussed and approved.

Seminars

The May seminar in Traverse City was confirmed. The seminar will be held on the 13th in the M Tech Building, room 222. The second seminar will be at PTK on the 14th, at Michigan Aviation.

Speakers will be Rick Durden, Steve Chait, Don Frank and Eric Richards. Mike McKinley, of the FAA's enforcement arm, had a scheduling conflict pop-up and a replacement will be obtained.

InnerMarker

Articles are badly needed; Don has not received a single one to date. Articles must be in by early-April in order for the InnerMarker to be published and distributed at the May seminars. Don has been working vigorously on this project.

Miscellaneous

Euel Kinsey is going to contact the attorneys involved in the ALPA litigation regarding the Michigan statute requiring background checks for student pilots at aviation schools.

Regarding the letter to the Governor discussed at the last meeting, it was pointed out that the Section's expertise should be offered in order to avoid taking a position on aviation-related matters in contravention of the State Bar's provisions.

Conclusion

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
