September 2002 - Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids

The meeting was called to order at xx:40 am. The first order of business was to elect Officers and Council Members for 2002-2003. Chair-Elect Gerry Padilla assumed the gavel as Chairman.

Elections

Nominations were made and the following were duly elected into the respective positions:

Officers President: Gerald Padilla (Southfield)
Vice President/Chair-Elect: Robert Hoschner (Owosso);
Secretary: Kenneth Bobo (Mattawan);
Treasurer: Karl Randall (Waterford);
Immediate Past President: Clifford Maine (Grand Rapids).

Council Members
Rick Durden (Grand Rapids);
Greg Mick (Dewitt).

Section Meetings

Discussions were held concerning the timing and location of Section meetings. It was decided that meetings would be held the second Tuesday of every other month at 7:00 pm, with the locations rotating around the state. The meetings will be held as follows:

Section Meetings
November 12, 2002 - Clare
January 14, 2003 - Grand Rapids
March 11, 2003 - Pontiac
May 13, 2003 - Traverse City

The timing of the annual seminar will depend on availability of speakers and more details will be provided as they become available.

Treasurer’s Report

Karl Randall reported a current balance of $2,845.20.

Website

We will try to have an up-to-date website running by November. Options were discussed concerning it’s hosting. At this time, we will leave it appended to the State Bar’s website.

General Information

Bob Hoschner told us of the Owosso (5D3) breakfast fly-ins which occur on the last Sunday of each month, October through March (27 Oct, 24 Nov, 29 Dec, 26 Jan, 23 Feb and 30 Mar). Serving begins at 0900, although it does not last long, as the food supply is usually soon exhausted.

Conclusion

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
