Business Law Institute
I am pleased to announce that the Section will hold its largest event, the 25th Annual Business Law Institute, on Friday, June 7 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Grand Rapids. This year’s Institute will be held all day on Friday with no Saturday session, in contrast to the Institute’s previous tradition of Friday afternoon and Saturday morning sessions. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Institute, a panel comprised of preeminent Michigan business lawyers will reflect on significant developments that have shaped the landscape of business law practice, and provide expert advice and perspective on what is next for Michigan businesses.
The Institute will also feature a multi-segment case study on advising successful entrepreneurial clients. The case study will include segments on shareholder disputes, intellectual property, the JOBS Act and venture capital term sheets. The popular business legislation and case law updates will also be presented at this year’s Institute.
As always, the Institute will offer the opportunity to spend time with seminar faculty, Section council members, fellow registrants, and friends at the reception and annual Section dinner following the program. Please plan to attend.
Call for Michigan Business Law Journal Articles
I have read the excellent articles which will appear in the Spring 2013 issue of the Journal, currently in production, which will feature debtor-creditor issues. Each issue of the Journal has a primary theme, but often includes other articles addressing new legislation, case law updates, and emerging legal issues. Our highly-valued Journal would not be published without the contributions of our authors, the vast majority of whom are members of the Section like you. Please consider writing an article for the Journal. The following are the themes and deadlines for submitting articles for upcoming issues:
