Chair's Letter From Tania E. (Dee Dee) Fuller

Happy 2010! I'm not sure about you, but I am looking at this year as a year of opportunity. The difficult economy has forced many of us to take steps to improve our bottom lines. Some have laid-off staff, established new spending policies, or taken other actions that we expect will make our businesses more efficient. As painful as this belt tightening is, we all understand that, because of these actions, our businesses will be better, which means more profitable. A lot of us took belt tightening steps in 2009, and plan to continue them in 2010 and into the future. As a result, we should be in a much better position to find "opportunities" and profits in 2010, and in the years to come. I'm hoping that 2010 is a year of opportunity for each of us!

Lastly, I wanted to give you a quick update on the status of the Section's Strategic Plan. As you may recall, a committee was established to put together a survey for Section members. That survey was e-mailed to each of you in December. Hopefully you gave us your thoughts. The survey closed on December 22 and we have now received the results from the State Bar. Once we have a chance to review what you, our Section members, are looking for, we will take further action to update the plan. We will keep you apprised of our progress.
