Chair’s Letter from Michael S. Khoury
Section members will notice increased Committee activity reflected in this newsletter and in the Section in general. The Section Council has established a general policy that committees should have at least two meetings or activities during each year, subject to what is happening in the topical areas.

Register today for the Section’s major CLE event, the Michigan Business Law Institute, to be held June 13-14 at the historic Dearborn Inn. See you all there!

Law Schools Committee
The Committee is hosting its First Annual Spring Fling, an evening of networking and collegiality for attorneys and business law students from across Michigan. Join us for cocktails, appetizers, and door prizes. One objective is to promote an interest in business law among students at each of the six law schools located in Michigan. The event will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Dirty Martini Lounge, 42705 Grand River Ave., Novi. If you are interested in attending, registration is available online or by fax/mail form. The cost for section members is $15 and $20 for other attorneys. If you have additional interest in participating in the Committee’s activities, please contact Edwin Lukas at lukas@millercanfield.com.

Amicus Request from Supreme Court
The Michigan Supreme Court has once again requested input from the Section, this time addressing the issues raised in the Miller v. Allstate case that you have heard much about. The Section’s Corporations Committee is currently working on the brief to be filed this month. At the same time, the legislative efforts to fix the problem are continuing in Lansing.
