Chair's Letter from Mark R. High:
The Business Law Section welcomes you to something new. We have started this monthly newsletter to let you know what is happening within the Section and around the business legal community. Expect to see this during the first week of each month.
Please join us for the Section Annual Meeting on September 20 where we will honor two long time members of the Section, Verne Hampton and Charles McCallum, with the Stephen Schulman award. We will also recognize Charlie's new position as chair of the ABA Business Law Section. Let us know what you think about this newsletter, the Section, or anything else.
Court of Appeals Decision Says Corporation Not Valid:
A recent Michigan Court of Appeals decision says that a service provider was not validly organized as a business corporation.
New Uniform Securities Act Introduced. The revised Uniform Securities Act has been introduced in the legislature (HB 5008). A special committee of the Section has been working on the update for several years. Stay tuned for further developments.
