Effective with the dues year beginning October 1, 2012, the State Bar of Michigan member dues have been reduced by $10, from $315 to $305 annually. This reduction results from the Michigan Supreme Court’s order to reduce the Attorney Discipline System dues portion by $10 (see Administrative Order No.2011-5 - Adjustment of Discipline Portion of the State Bar of Michigan Dues). The 2012-13 Active member dues consists of $180 for the SBM portion, $110 for the Attorney Discipline portion, and $15 for the Client Protection Fund, totaling $305. Your total annual dues may be less than $305 depending on your membership category (refer to your dues statement and instructions).
In addition, effective with the dues year beginning October 1, 2013, dues notices will no longer be mailed to members with e-mail addresses on file. Since approximately 93% of State Bar members have e-mail addresses, members with e-mail addresses will be notified by e-mail each year on September 20 that dues are payable on October 1 of each year. Members can then pay their dues online at http://e.michbar.org or print out a dues invoice and mail the dues payment. All members without e-mail addresses on file will continue to receive a dues notice. Look for more information on this procedural change throughout the upcoming year.
As always, we encourage you to pay your dues online with a Visa or MasterCard debit or credit card at http://e.michbar.org. Paying online saves you postage, returns your bar card faster, and reduces the potential for errors in your published contact information.
