Chair’s Letter from Ann Hollenbeck:
Educational Programs.
The Payors Subcommittee will host a two-part educational series regarding the Medicare Advantage Program in May via teleconference. The first part of the series will be held Wednesday, May 6 at noon. This presentation will include a basic overview of the Medicare Advantage Program and discuss the differences between Medicare and Medicare Advantage. The speakers will be Sue Jenkins and Julie Anderson from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
The second part of the series will be held on Wednesday May 20 at noon and will address more advanced topics related to the Medicare Advantage Program. Speakers will include Sue Jenkins, Julie Anderson, and Tina Allen from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Corporate Practice of Medicine Task Force. This new task force has been formed for the purpose of working with the State of Michigan’s DLEG to determine its actual practices in assessing permissibility of various corporate forms, assessing DLEG's authority in context ofexisting legal guidance on the corporate practice of medicine and working with DLEG to revise its practices (if necessary) to comport with existing legal guidance.
Save the Date:
Our Legislative Update will be held on April 23, 2009, in Lansing. It will feature Senator Tom George as the key note speaker. Location is to be announced.
Annual Meeting Planning.
The Section’s annual meeting will be held on September 24, 2009, at Cranbrook Institute of Science. We are already planning our program, and each of you should have received (via e-mail) a Call for Speakers and Topics. Please consider the topics you’d like to have addressed at this meeting and the speakers from whom you’d like to hear. If you have any suggestions, please contact me at ahollenbeck@honigman.com.
