Chair's Letter From Lisa Panah
We have had a busy month of programs, including Part 5 of the Stark Law Series, the annual Legislative Update program in Lansing, and the Learned Professions Doctrine Teleconference. I would like to thank the many volunteers for their hard work in planning these quality programs and those who graciously agreed to speak and moderate the programs. A special thanks is given to Monica Wilkinson, Chair of the Substantive Law Committee, for overseeing the program planning process. On a related note, I would also like to thank the State Bar for its help in formatting and distributing the electronic newsletter each month.
IRS Form 990 Task Force
The IRS Form 990 Task Force of the Health Care Law Section, led by Ann Hollenbeck and Cynthia Wisner, was recently reconvened for the purpose of preparing comments on the draft instructions for the comprehensive new Form 990, which are due June 1, 2008. The Task Force will be meeting by telephone on Monday, May 12, 2008, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Please e-mail Ann or Cindy if you wish to participate. It’s not too late.
HCLS Annual Meeting - Call for Topic Ideas and Discussion Leaders
Planning for the HCLS annual meeting is currently underway. As we have done in the past, part of the program will include lunch roundtable discussions. This year, we will be having two sets of lunch roundtable discussions of around 40 minutes each to make it easier for people to change tables and join a different discussion. We are currently looking for topic ideas and volunteers for table discussion leaders. Please e-mail Ann Hollenbeck who is collecting the information for the HCLS Annual Meeting Planning Committee.
