Chair's Letter From Lisa Panah
The 2007-2008 Section year is soon coming to an end, and it sure went by fast. I want to thank the Council and Section members for making this a highly productive and successful year of Section education, outreach, and service. None of the various programs or initiatives of the Section would have been possible without the many volunteers who contributed their time, effort, and ideas to planning educational programs and law student events, leading task forces and committees, giving presentations and overall participating in the Section. There are too many people to name, but I hope you know who you are and that your work and participation on behalf of the Section is very much appreciated.
The official kick off to the new Section year will be at the annual business meeting of the Section at the Detroit Institute of Arts on September 23. The new Section year promises to be another great year under Ann Hollenbeck’s capable leadership, and we all can certainly look forward to that.
One of the new initiatives for the upcoming year is that the Council has formed a new Publications Committee, which will be co-chaired by John Anderson and Donna O’Connor. The main purpose of the new Committee will be to update an existing publication of the Section or create a new publication on a health law topic of broad interest to the Section. We have a few volunteers so far for the Committee, but anyone else is welcome to join as well. John and Donna will keep you posted on their plans and how you can participate.
Well, this is my last newsletter to you. It has been an honor serving as the Chair of this great Section. I have enjoyed working with and getting to know so many impressive people. I sincerely hope to see you at the annual meeting of the Section. The planning committee did an incredible job planning the event, which I very much appreciate. The DIA is a great venue, and the program we have planned for you will be both educational and fun. If you have not signed up yet, please make sure to do so soon. Thanks!
