Treasurer's Report: Our current balance is $8,687 (before payment of $812.69 invoice for Integrated Technologies). The anticipated cost for the March 26 seminar is $2,500. Annual Meeting in September: Our section's business meeting is scheduled for Friday, Sept 27 from 10:45–11:45 a.m. The section breakfast has been cancelled. Ms. Kimbro contacted the Labor & Employment Law Section. They are not planning on having a speaker at this annual conference. Ms. Kimbro will contact the Young Lawyers section and the Computer Law section to express our interest in partnering on a speaker for the annual meeting. Newsletter has been sent. Possible topics for the spring, 2002 newsletter include an article about the golf outing (with Tom Anderson as the guest speaker) in June and the introduction of new web page links. Ms. Kimbro will contact Tom Anderson to ask whether he can contribute an article to the spring newsletter. Our disaster response & recovery workshop is scheduled for March 26. Mr. Gorzalski will copy the materials for the workshop. Ms. Kimbro is going to attend the ALA board meeting on March 14 to discuss the golf outing. Ms. Mann presented the demo from Oakland University. This is something that we would have an interest in pursuing further. Oakland University currently has a legal assistant and an MBA program. Ms. Mann and Mr. Gorzalski are scheduled to meet with Oakland University this Thursday to discuss the potential fit, options and cost of partnering on a training program. Items to consider for the next meeting include deciding on whether we will sponsor any additional events between the golf outing and the annual meeting and considering additional Council Members for 2002-2003 year. Potential candidates were discussed and will be contacted by Mr. Gorzalski. Mr. Gorzalski sent letters to the four members who did not renew their dues. Ms. Kimbro may have a conflict with the Bar Leaders Retreat on May 3 and 4. She will keep us updated. Meeting adjourned at approximately 8:30 a.m. |
