Meeting Minutes
September 22, 2000 Members Present: Also in attendance: Roberta Mathie, Karin Roosa. Mr. Starrs called the meeting to order at approximately 9:30 a.m., and the minutes of the 1999 Annual Meeting were approved. On behalf of Mr. Briggs, Mr. Starrs provided the Treasurer's Report; he stated that the approximate balance in the account is $6,300.00. Ms. Schriner informed the Council that the August newsletter was out and that the next issue is scheduled for December. Mr. Gorzalski reported that he is still attempting to provide a membership listing on the Section's website, but the State Bar was resisting this move. Otherwise, the website is up and running as planned. Highlighting the events of the past year, Mr. Starrs shared with the Council the Annual Report that he had submitted to the State Bar. He then asked Ms. Monaco to discuss the slate of officers proposed for the coming year. It was as follows: Chairperson—Anita Monaco She noted that three Council Member positions are still open. It was agreed that a vote on the existing slate should be held and the vacancies filled prior to the next meeting; a vote on those members will be by e-mail. The slate was unanimously approved by voice vote. At that point Mr. Starrs then made the official presentation of the gavel to Ms. Monaco. Ms. Monaco talked briefly about her goal for the coming year: increasing participation and membership in the Section. She noted that she hoped to see the Section grow and prosper and that she wanted to issue an open invitation to all members to attend the monthly meetings. At this point, she concluded the business portion of the meeting and introduced our speaker, Palma Baker. Ms. Baker presented a lively discussion on how to Put Balance into Your Professional and Personal Life. Using interactive activities, she helped us analyze the pressures of life today and to target the activities which we would like to consume our time. Following her presentation, the meeting was adjourned. |
