Apple for the Teacher

    Deadline: June 30, 2011
    The annual Crystal Apple Award recognizes teachers who have made outstanding contributions to law-related education. The winner receives a $500 savings bond. The winners of the Michigan award will then be entered in the national American Lawyers Auxiliary contest for the Teacher of the Year, awarded at the ABA/ALA annual convention in August 2011.  Please take this opportunity to honor a dedicated teacher in this special way. Elementary, middle school, and high school teachers can be nominated.

3rd Grade Teaching Unit

    This program provides a free reading/ teaching kit called "Laws Rights and Responsibilities" designed for third grade students and teachers and is available to all elementary schools.

Court House Tours

    Guided tours of the Saginaw County and Midland County court houses are available throughout the year. This first hand experience is enjoyed by all ages and is highly recommended. The Saginaw County tours are for 5th graders and older.

Late Show Program

    This is a bed-time reading program at the juvenile homes in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Midland and Saginaw. Community volunteers read some words of inspiration and relaxation over the intercom system to the residents in the facilities. This caring program began in October of 1995 and is now a well anticipated evening event.
