1.  Law Day - Report

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every RBA member who helped make this year's Law Day program at the Older Persons Activity Center such a success.  For those of you who attended, I think you'll agree that it was quite an event.

We served over 190 meals - at least 15 attorneys were present to eat with the seniors - who I know enjoyed that opportunity.

Each and every one of our morning seminars was well attended and well received by seniors, and well presented by our volunteers.

Special thanks to Doug Otlewski, John Mahoney, Mary Anderson, Paul Johnson and Liz Sadowski for their presentations.

Also special thanks to the attorneys who did the one on one consults and the home bound phone consults, both morning and afternoon, including - Joe Daiek, Matt Brown, John Kanaras, Larry Schloss, Larry Ternan, Lara Stutz, Barb Johanessan, Greg Berenzoff and Scott Sumner.

Thanks, also, to Ralph Nelson who spoke about Law Day and its meaning to those in attendance.  From the comments of seniors afterwards, know his talk was well received.

Budget wise, we were able to pay for the food, but according to Randy Shepard, could still use some "support" from those of you who are willing to do so.

For those of you who were not yet aware, Brian Homeszyn of the Mortgage Company of Michigan (located at 950 W. University, Rochester, 650-6900, and several members of his staff, volunteered their time to purchase (at substantial discount) and prepare our meal - of Chicken Cordon Bleu!  If you think of it and get the chance, give him a call and thank him.

NEXT MEETING -

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the Elks club - Judge Carniak has agreed to speak with us.  It will be a good opportunity for those of you who have not yet met Nancy, to meet her and learn what to expect (and what she expects from us) in her court.   I encourage all of you to mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Thanks,

Doug Tull
