The New and Improved SBM Website

The State Bar of Michigan launched its redesigned website on May 16. Sporting a new look and feel, the website has undergone its first major redesign since 2008. The previous website, running on outdated technology with cumbersome navigation, has been upgraded to the newer DNN platform. The website upgrade was part of a two-year project that included the transitioning of section websites into the new SBM Connect portal.

And About the New Member Directory—Have It Your Way!

When we rolled out the new member directory powered by ZeekBeek in January, we heard from many members about the things that they liked and didn't like about the new design. We listened—and then we got to work right away to ensure that using the directory would be a positive experience. Since that time there have been significant improvements made: Searches are faster, the directory is easier and more intuitive to navigate, it is cleaner in appearance, and members can choose the format of the search results that best fit individual preferences.

The online member directory is used every day—by the public looking for lawyers, by attorneys looking for other attorneys, and by courts and other agencies verifying attorney information. It is a trusted resource for accurate information. Through the SBM partnership with ZeekBeek, members can build an expanded profile, pull in a profile already built on LinkedIn, add videos and articles, and link to blogs and websites—all for FREE!

NOTE: Due to a recent security upgrade to the SBM Member Area website, you may need to apply a security patch to your web browser, upgrade your browser, or download and install a new browser. If you have trouble accessing our member area to expand your profile information, please follow these guidelines.

Information for your expanded profile can be added through the State Bar of Michigan Member Area or from the ZeekBeek site. Your member record will automatically update in both places within seconds. If you belong to a Section, the information you provide will also update automatically in the new SBM Connect. You can also import your LinkedIn profile information directly on the ZeekBeek site.

All you need to get started is your SBM user name and password. From the new member directory (directory.michbar.org) select the "Update Member Profile" link at the top of the page. Log in using your SBM user name and password. If you don't know your user name and password, click here. From there you can access all the ZeekBeek site features. To obtain the full marketing benefits of your expanded profile, you will need to switch on the feature in the ZeekBeek settings showing that you are available to accept consumer clients.
