Free Training Offered by Domestic Violence Cmte. & Pro Bono Initiative

The State Bar of Michigan Domestic Violence Committee and Pro Bono Initiative will offer an in-person pro bono training from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills Campus, with a simultaneous broadcast to the school’s Lansing and Grand Rapids campuses. The training is free of charge for any attorney willing to commit to accepting a pro bono family law case within six months.

Attorneys with many years of hands-on family law experience will present the training, covering trauma-informed practice, substantive legal issues, pleadings, and pretrial and trial practices as they relate to family law cases with domestic violence components. The training will especially benefit attorneys who are new to family and domestic violence law practice or experienced attorneys looking for a refresher course.
