Diversity and Inclusion Committee Presents Blind Spots Seminar

The State Bar of Michigan Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee will partner with affinity bar associations, the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion and Michigan Diversity Council to present a seminar called “Blind Spots: How to Avoid Poor Decisions & Bad Outcomes” from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at Doubletree Suites by Hilton Detroit, located at 525 W. Lafayette Blvd. in Detroit.

Internationally recognized expert on medical, legal and judicial decision-making Kimberly Papillon will start the day with an interactive presentation that explores the implications of neuroscience, psychology and implicit association in the analysis of the decision-making process.

A panel including United States District Judge Victoria Roberts, Wayne State University Director of Community Affairs Victor Green, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives Metro Detroit Chapter President George Anthony Jr., Cordes Law PLLC attorney Timothy Cordes, and Spectrum Health System Manager of Inclusion and Diversity Kristin Ekkens will explore ways to identify and avoid common mistakes triggered by unconscious bias and to improve decision-making.
