2017 Election Notice—Voting Begins May 26

Electronic ballots for the 2017 State Bar elections will be distributed beginning on Friday, May 26. SBM members who do not have an e-mail address on file will receive a paper ballot. Online voting will end at 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 15, and paper ballots must be received postmarked no later than June 15.

There are contested races for the Judicial Tenure Commission, the Board of Commissioners in Districts B, E, H, and I, and the Young Lawyers Section Executive Council in District 3. Unless your address on file is in one of the districts where there is a contested race, you will only receive a ballot for the Judicial Tenure Commission race.

All eligible members with an e-mail address on file with the State Bar may vote securely online. This can be done by one of two methods. First, beginning on May 26, eligible members will receive an e-mail message informing them it is time to vote. Included in the message will be an embedded link taking the recipient directly to the voting site and a ballot containing only the races for which the member is entitled to vote.

The e-mail will come from sbmelection@electionservicescorp.com with the subject line "Vote Now in the 2017 State Bar of Michigan Election—E-Ballot Enclosed" and not from the State Bar. Please alert your IT department to this address to ensure your ballot does not end up in your spam or trash folder.

Alternatively, you may reach the voting website from the SBM Member Area at http://e.michbar.org, where you will need to sign in and click on the VOTE NOW button to be directed to the voting website.
