Insurance & Indemnity Law Section to Host Cybersecurity Program

The Insurance & Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will host its Annual Meeting and Educational Program from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 28 in conjunction with the SBM NEXT Conference at Cobo Center in Detroit.

The section business meeting will take place from 10:00-10:30 a.m. The educational program will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon and will feature speaker Janis Meyer, a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson who focuses on professional ethics and risk management issues. She is also a special professor of law at the Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law and a member of the Law 360 Legal Ethics Editorial Advisory Board. She will cover “Cybersecurity: Protecting Client Information and Yourself,” which includes the ethics involved in protecting client data from hackers, and “How to Avoid Dumb Things Lawyers Do!” will discuss mistakes with client funds, representing “bad” clients, and “dabbling.”
