State Bar Hires Finance Director

The State Bar of Michigan has hired Karen K. Ruddy as Director-Finance.

As the Bar's Finance Director, Ruddy will report to David R. Rider, Assistant Executive Director-Finance. She will have the primary responsibility of overseeing expense vouchers, approving bills for payment, and responding to staff and section financial questions. She will also assist with the balancing of general ledger accounts. Before joining the State Bar, Ruddy was senior staff accountant for the Flint Cultural Center Corporation, Inc. where she reviewed the accounting for five divisions of the corporation, as well as other programs such as the Joffrey Dance Workshop and the renovation of the Whiting Auditorium. Her other responsibilities included overseeing accounts payable, cash management, accounts receivable, payroll, grant accounting, general ledger and financial statement preparation. Ruddy is a 1994 graduate of the University of Michigan - Flint where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. In 1998, she became a Certified Public Accountant. Ruddy continues to strengthen her skills by attending continuing education seminars.
