Cahill, Hohauser, Jenkins and Toy Win State Bar Commission Seats

Kimberly M. Cahill of Centerline, Michael S. Hohauser of Troy, W. Anthony Jenkins of Detroit, and Charles R. Toy of East Lansing have won seats on the State Bar of Michigan's Board of Commissioners. All will sit on the Board for three-year terms expiring at the close of the Annual Meeting in 2003.

Cahill will represent District D (Macomb), Hohauser will represent District I (Lapeer, Oakland and St. Clair), Jenkins will represent District H (Wayne) and Toy will represent District E (Barry, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Ionia, Livingston, Montcalm and Shiawassee).

As Chairperson of the Representative Assembly, Cahill currently serves on the Board of Commissioners and has held a seat on the Board for the past three years. She is a partner with the firm of Schoenherr & Cahill in Centerline where she practices in the areas of real estate, probate and estate planning and family law.

Hohauser has served numerous terms on the State Bar's Representative Assembly and has been active in various committees and sections. He practices in the areas of litigation and personal injury at the Hohauser Law Firm, PC in Troy. Before starting his own firm last year, Hohauser was a partner in the firm of Googasian, Hopkins, Hohauser & Forhan from 1982 to 1996 and a principal in the firm of Harnisch & Hohauser from 1996 to 1999. He is an active member of several bar associations and served as President of the Oakland County Bar from June 1999 to June 2000. He has served as Adjunct Professor of Product Liability Law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, as a guest lecturer for the National Business Institute, and as a contributing author to publications. He is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Detroit College of Law.

Jenkins has been serving on the Board for the past three years as a commissioner-at- large. He was first appointed to the Board in 1997. He practices corporate, real estate and public finance law with the firm of Dickinson Wright PLLC in Detroit.

Toy has been actively involved in the State Bar for over 15 years, serving six years on the Representative Assembly and serving on various committees and sections. He is also active in the Eaton and Ingham County Bar Associations. Toy practices civil and criminal law with an emphasis on administrative, natural resources, environmental and property law, with the East Lansing firm of Farhat & Story, P.C. and is also a contract Administrative Law Judge for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Before joining Farhat & Story in 1986, Toy Clerked for Court of Appeals Judge Donald E. Holbrook, Jr. and in the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office under the Hon. Peter D. Houk. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School, received his Master's Degree from Michigan State University and his undergraduate degree with honors from Oakland University.

The State Bar's Board of Commissioners acts as the primary managing body for the Bar and hires the Executive Director. It also sets State Bar policy between meetings of the Representative Assembly. Twenty members are elected from districts apportioned based on lawyer population. Other members include three Representative Assembly officers, five members appointed by the Supreme Court, and three officers of the Young Lawyers Section.
