Plunkett and Barr Re-elected to State Bar Commission Seats
6/30/00 Thomas G. Plunkett of Birmingham and John M. Barr of Ypsilanti have both been re-elected to the State Bar of Michigan's Board of Commissioners. Both will sit on the Board for three-year terms expiring at the close of the Annual Meeting in 2003. Plunkett will represent District I (Lapeer, Oakland and St. Clair) and Barr, who ran without opposition, will continue to represent District G (Lenawee, Monroe and Washtenaw). Plunkett was first elected to the Board in 1985. He is a partner in the Birmingham firm of Williams, Williams, Ruby & Plunkett, P.C. where he practices in the areas of commercial/business, litigation, family and municipal law. Barr was first elected to the Board in 1994. He is a partner in the Ypsilanti firm of Barr, Anhut & Associates, P.C. where he practices in the areas of general and municipal law. The State Bar's Board of Commissioners acts as the primary managing body for the Bar and hires the Executive Director. It also sets State Bar policy between meetings of the Representative Assembly. Twenty members are elected from districts apportioned based on lawyer population. Other members include three Representative Assembly officers, five members appointed by the Supreme Court, and three officers of the Young Lawyers Section.
