State Bar Announces 2001 New Presidents' Retreat

The State Bar of Michigan will hold this year's New Presidents' Retreat at the Grand Hotel, on Mackinac Island on June 8th and 9th, 2001. The Retreat is a hands-on-training program for new (2001-2002), local and special purpose bar presidents. The incoming presidents will have a chance to network and share their ideas about their upcoming presidency. State Bar President Thomas J. Ryan and President-Elect Bruce A. Neckers will be there to speak about the politics of bar presidency.

Programs will begin on Friday, June 8th with the following schedule:

10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Registration, lunch begins at noon.
1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Welcome (Thomas G. Plunkett, Chairperson, Local Bar Liaison Committee and John T. Berry, Executive Director, State Bar of Michigan) Introductions (Carl E. Chioini and Dawn A. Van Hoek, Co- Chairpersons, New Presidents' Retreat)
1:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Future Ain't What It Used To Be! (Dadie Perlov, founder and a principal of Consensus Management Group)
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Buzz Sessions: Looking for a Killer Idea? Bring your imagination and your best ideas to a roundtable discussion with other incoming presidents.
6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Reception sponsored by the Paul Goebel Group.
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Dinner

Saturday, June 9th, 2001

7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Breakfast
8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. The Big Picture: A Look at the Politics of Your Presidency (Thomas J. Ryan, President, State Bar of Michigan, Bruce W. Neckers, President-Elect, State Bar of Michigan, Bruce A. Courtade, Chairperson, Representative Assembly and David Haynes, Public Affairs Associates, Inc.)
