State Bar Young Lawyers Section Hosts Seminar on Alternative Careers
1/31/01 The State Bar of Michigan's Young Lawyers Section will host an "Alternative Careers for Lawyers" seminar on Saturday, March 24, 2001 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Novi. The seminar will explore options available for attorneys seeking alternatives to the traditional practice of law. The keynote speaker for the event is Hindi Greenberg, founder of Lawyers in Transition and a nationally featured speaker on the subject of alternative careers for lawyers. She is also author of The Lawyer's Career Change Handbook, which contains listings of options in various legal and non law-related fields, as well as a thorough compilation of research resources on each field. Greenberg's address will cover areas such as developing a career strategy plan with tips on networking, informational interviewing, resumes, and overcoming "lawyer stereotypes." She will also discuss how to analyze present career dissatisfactions and options both in and out of law. The seminar will also feature a panel of individuals who have made a career change, and individuals who specialize in "nontraditional" areas of law. There is a $20 cost for the event ($25 at the door), which includes a continental breakfast and a deli lunch, as well as a copy of Greenberg's book, The Lawyer's Career Change Handbook. Please pre-register for the seminar by sending your check made payable to the State Bar of Michigan by March 16, 2001 to:
