Horsch Joins State Bar

James C. Horsch has joined the State Bar of Michigan to serve as director of finance and administration. He will be responsible for business planning, financial management, information services, facility operations and other administrative support functions at the Bar. Horsch began his employment on October 1, 2001.

Horsch served as CFO for the energy delivery business unit at Commonwealth Edison and Exelon Corporation in Chicago, and also has over 20 years of business planning and financial management experience at Consumers Energy where he served as director of business planning for the electric utility business unit.

A Michigan native and Okemos resident, Horsch has a BBA from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration and an MBA from the School of Management at the U of M - Flint. In addition, Horsch completed the Executive Program in Energy Services at the University of Michigan as well as the Leadership Development Program at Eckerd College's Management Development Institute. He also holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified in Financial Management (CFM) professional designations, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, National Honor Society in Business and Administration.

Horsch has considerable experience in leadership, strategic planning and financial management with non-profit organizations. His assignments have included being chair of the Board of Regents of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants; president of the IMA Foundation for Applied Research and chair of the Board of Trustees; chair of the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan; and chair of the Finance Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants.

Horsch is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Management Accountants, and serves as a vice president of the Institute. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoys Toastmasters and coaching youth soccer.
