Race for Justice Set for September 11
7/16/01 The Race for Justice, a State Bar of Michigan fundraiser to support legal services for the poor and featuring both a five-kilometer run and a five-kilometer walk along the same course, is set for September 11, 2001. This event will take place at the Potter Park Zoo and River Trail, 1301 S. Pennsylvania Road in Lansing. Race Day registration and processing begins at 5 p.m., the race itself begins at 6 p.m. and the walk begins at 6:05 p.m. Sponsored by the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan, The Race for Justice is also open to the public. Participants are encouraged to obtain pledges and collect donations for the Access to Justice Fund. Registration for the event is free to those who collect $100 or more in pledges. Other participants pay $20 if they register on or before August 31. After that date, the fee is $25. A T-shirt, snacks and beverages will be provided to participants. The first 100 registrants will also receive a guest pass good at Lansing area YMCA's. Two hundred dollars in prize money will be awarded - $30 for first place runners and walkers for both men and women, and $20 each for the second placed winners.
