Clark Hill Celebrates Reginald Turner State Bar Presidency with $10,000 Tribute Gift to ATJ Fund

October 4, 2002

The Detroit law firm of Clark Hill PLC has donated $10,000 to the State Bar of Michigan's Access to Justice (ATJ) Fund to honor Reginald M. Turner, a partner in the firm who recently became the 68th president of the State Bar. The donation is the largest single ATJ tribute gift made in honor of a living person.

Clark Hill CEO John Hern said the firm decided to pay tribute to Turner by supporting one of his favorite causes, Access to Justice - a program that helps low-income people get civil legal aid. "For all that he has done for the profession and the community, we knew that we could honor him best by continuing our firm's leadership in the ATJ Campaign that Reginald Turner has developed over the years," Hern said.

The $10,000 tribute gift brings Clark Hill's contributions to the ATJ Fund to over $35,000. Clark Hill is a full service law firm with 100 attorneys and offices in Detroit, Birmingham and Lansing. Turner is the fourth Clark Hill member to be elected to the position of State Bar President, following Patrick Keating, Robert Webster, and J. Thomas Lenga.

The President-Elect of the State Bar, Scott S. Brinkmeyer expressed thanks for the Clark Hill gift. "Reggie has championed ATJ issues over the years and his leadership in this area has been outstanding. It is most fitting that the Clark Hill firm chose to honor him in this way."

Turner practices labor and employment law at Clark Hill. He is a civic activist who has considerable governmental experience at the federal, state and local levels. As president of the 35,000-member State Bar of Michigan, Turner is placing high priority on implementing the Bar's Strategic Plan with an emphasis on financial management, member services and justice initiatives.
