State Bar Representative Assembly to Meet in East Lansing on April 27

The Representative Assembly of the State Bar of Michigan will meet on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at the East Lansing Marriott hotel. The Representative Assembly is the final policy-making body of the State Bar. On the calendar for discussion at the meeting will be the following items:

  • A report to the Assembly regarding State Bar of Michigan member services, including the Blue Cross-Blue Shield insurance program, LOISLAW, and e-filing.

  • Consideration of a proposal by the Public Defense Task Force for the adoption of criminal defense assigned counsel guidelines that would serve as a foundation for providing legal representation of indigent defendants in criminal proceedings and improving public defense services.

  • Consideration of a proposal regarding the State Bar of Michigan's continued involvement in screening of candidates for judicial appointment. The Representative Assembly meeting will begin at 10-a.m. Expected adjournment is 12:45 p.m.
