State Bar's Law Student Section Hosts First Annual Golf Classic
7/31/02 Law students and their prospective employers and recruiters will get a unique opportunity to meet informally on the green over a relaxing game of golf on Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the Northville Hills Golf Club. The occasion will be the State Bar's First Annual Law Student Section (LSS) Golf Classic. Tee time will be 1:30 p.m. sharp at 15565 Bay Hill Drive, Northville. Law students who plan to attend may choose their golf partners from a list of top recruiters. Assignments will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis and some limitations such as class level, may apply. Immediately after the tournament, the LSS will host a mixer, which will be open to all law students so that non- golfers will also have an opportunity to network with the recruiters. The price per student is $35 and includes admission to the golf tournament and the mixer. The cost for the mixer alone is $20. According to Elias Xenos, LSS treasurer and head of the Golf Classic Planning Committee, the outing was inspired by a similar, successful event held for MBA students and recruiters at Michigan State University. "Recruiters get the opportunity to observe potential hires in casual situations, and students get to express their interest in being chosen. Of course, it's a lot of fun too," Xenos said. An added attraction is the "Hole in One" contest, the grand prize for which is a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche donated by Annie Rae Chevrolet in DeWitt. Students who would like to register for this event can do so online at www.LSSGolfClassic.com. Recruiters can register by contacting Xenos at (313) 618-0604 or email xenoseli@msu.edu. Companies interested in sponsorship opportunities can contact Greg Mick at (517) 669-5067, or email gmick00@cs.com.
