ATJ Awards $10,000 Grant to HAVEN

November 22, 2002

Families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse will benefit from a $10,000 grant that the State Bar of Michigan's Access to Justice (ATJ) program recently awarded to HAVEN, an Oakland County agency. Counselors at HAVEN will be better able to serve such families, especially the non-English speaking clients with translated program and legal education materials, which will be acquired with the grant money. Haven will also work with other agencies to produce translated materials that they can share.

The Michigan State Bar Foundation awarded the money as part of the second round of grants from the Access to Justice Fund. A total of $45,000 was given to various groups in the state to help address the unmet civil legal needs of low-income families. These grants are made possible through contributions from lawyers, judges and others to the Access to Justice Campaign To donate to the ATJ Fund, please visit www.atjfund.org or call 1-800-968-1442.
