Williams Elected Chair of Bar's Intellectual Property Law Section

G. Thomas Williams of Grand Rapids has been elected chair of the State Bar of Michigan's Intellectual Property Law Section. He is a partner in the law firm McGarry Bair LLP, and has practiced intellectual property law for 8 years.

Prior to being elected chair on September 26, 2002, Williams held the positions of vice-chair (2001-02), secretary-treasurer (2000-01), and Council member (1998-2000) with the Section. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Grand Rapids Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is also an adjunct professor at Davenport University in Grand Rapids. Williams obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1992. He is a 1995 graduate of George Washington University National Law Center.

The Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan provides education, information, and analysis about issues of concern through meetings, seminars, a website, public service programs, and the publication of a newsletter.
