8/27/03

The 7th annual 5K Race for Justice, sponsored by the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section and held in conjunction with the Bar's 68th Annual Meeting, will take place Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the Potter Park Zoo and River Trail in Lansing, 1301 S. Pennsylvania. This event will benefit the State Bar of Michigan Access to Justice Fund, which helps support civil legal aid programs for the poor in Michigan.

The Race for Justice is open to everyone and participants can either walk or run the five-kilometer course. Registration for the race begins at 8:00 a.m., and the Run/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m. Participants are encouraged to collect donations for the Access to Justice Fund before the event and turn them in at registration. Registration fees are waived for all participants who collect $100 or more in pledged support. The registration fee for other participants is $20 (for those who register by September 1) and $25 for those who register at the event. The registration fee includes a T-shirt and refreshments.

This year's event co-chairs are D. Andrew Portinga and John J. Conway. The honorary chair of the event is Dennis W. Archer, president of the American Bar Association.
