State Bar Young Lawyers Section to Prepare Holiday Dinners

11/26/03

In keeping with its yearly tradition, the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers (YLS) Section will prepare holiday dinners in December for those in need.

According to Angelique Strong Marks, YLS chairperson-elect, helping prepare the dinners gives lawyers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people who might otherwise not have a holiday meal and lets shelter residents know that people in the legal community care about their well-being.

The dinner preparation will take place in Oakland and Wayne Counties. The first event, which is being co-sponsored by the D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, will be held Saturday, December 6, at the Grace Center of Hope (formerly the Pontiac Rescue Mission), located at 35 West Huron St. in Pontiac. Dinner preparation begins at 4:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

The second event will take place Saturday, December 13, at Highland Park Doorsteps, located at 224 Highland Park St. Dinner preparation begins at 3:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m.

All volunteers are welcome. For more information or to volunteer, contact Angelique Strong Marks at (248) 470-2616 or strongangelique@sbcglobal.net.
