Michigan law students and lawyers will don their skates on Saturday, April 17, 2004, in Ann Arbor for a very good cause: to support civil legal services for low-income people in Michigan. The annual Skate for Justice tournament will be held at the Yost Arena on the University of Michigan campus beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Skate for Justice is an annual charity ice hockey tournament between students at Michigan law schools, including the University of Michigan, Ave Maria, University of Detroit-Mercy, Wayne State University, and Michigan State University—DCL College of Law.
This special fundraising event will support the Access to Justice (ATJ) Development Campaign. Access to Justice donations are received and managed by the Michigan State Bar Foundation, with the net proceeds from this year's Skate for Justice benefiting the ATJ Operations Fund for use throughout the state.
After the Championship Game, there will be a reception celebrating the efforts and involvement of all participants, organizers, and fans. Details will be announced at the tournament. For more information on the Access to Justice Fund or to make an individual or sponsorship donation that may be eligible for federal or state tax benefits.
