Young Lawyers Organize Statewide Fundraisers to Help Hurricane Victims

Michigan's Young Lawyers are organizing fundraisers statewide to show support and sympathy for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section and the Grand Rapids, Ingham, Macomb and Oakland County chapters are hosting three separate events on two evenings to raise funds for Katrina victims. There is no charge to attend. Food and a cash bar will be available and donations will be accepted on behalf of the American Red Cross. These events will be held at the following locations and times:

Attendees at this location are also encouraged to donate personal items to over 500 evacuees temporarily housed in Detroit and Southfield hotels. Items in need include: baby food, diapers, sweaters, coats (new or like new), towels, washcloths, baby blankets, paper products, backpacks, and personal hygiene products. A truck will be on site at the Big Rock Restaurant to pick up these donations. This arrangement was made possible by event co-sponsors the Barristers of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association in conjunction with The Hunger Action Coalition of Michigan.
