YLS Seminar on Stress Reduction Set For August 18 in Novi

"Stress Management for the Young Professional" is the theme of a free seminar to be held Thursday, August 18 at the Doubletree Hotel in Novi from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Organized by the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the State Bar of Michigan, this interactive program will address the professional and personal demands that new lawyers face, and emphasize the importance of personal balance as the best strategy for avoiding the physical and psychological damage that can be caused by chronic stress. Special emphasis will be placed on proactively recognizing the signs and symptoms of stress, coping skills, and the identification of appropriate resources for assistance and support.

Martha Burkett, assistant program administrator of the State Bar of Michigan Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program and WDIV TV's "Fitness Guru" Peter Nielsen are the featured speakers. Burkett has a background in a variety of addiction and mental health treatment settings. Nielsen is a popular fitness show host and motivational speaker who will focus on the importance of proper nutrition and exercise.
