The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section (YLS) will keep with its annual tradition and prepare holiday meals in December for those in need in Oakland, Wayne, Genesee, and Kalamazoo Counties. More than 50 volunteers are needed to prepare and serve meals, and act as greeters.
"This year, the YLS program will expand to two new locations in Flint and Kalamazoo," said Angelique Strong Marks, coordinator for the Highland Park dinner location. "Volunteering for these dinners is a great way for our profession to close out the year by giving back to our communities and serving those in need."
The first dinner, co-sponsored by the Wolverine Bar Association, will be served on Saturday, December 10, at Highland Park Doorsteps, located at 224 Highland. Meal preparation and set-up begins at 3:30 pm and the meal will be served at 6:00 p.m.
The second meal, co-sponsored by the D. Augustus Bar Association, will be served on Saturday, December 17, at Grace Centers of Hope, located at 35 E. Huron Road in Pontiac. Meal preparation and set-up begins at 4:00 pm, and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
The third event, co-sponsored by the Kalamazoo County Young Lawyers, will be served on Sunday, December 18, at Ministry with Community, located at 440 N. Church Street in Kalamazoo. Meal preparation and set-up begins at 12:30 and the dinner will be served at 2:45 p.m.
