In keeping with tradition, the new president of the State Bar of Michigan, Kimberly M. Cahill, will visit the Upper Peninsula legal community September 25-27. The tour gives U.P. bar associations, the media, and the public the chance to meet the person leading the State Bar during the next year. Cahill, who has served on the SBM Board of Commissioners since 1997, is the State Bar's 72nd president and only the fourth woman to lead the organization of more than 38,000 members.
Ms. Cahill and a State Bar contingent will make stops in Sault St. Marie, Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Marquette, and Ironwood. During the tour, she will focus on the Bar's efforts to protect the public, support its members, and promote the administration of justice.
Ms. Cahill has practiced law for more than 20 years, focusing on real estate, probate, estate planning, and family law. Her partners at Schoenherr, Cahill and Warnez in Center Line are her mother, Florence Schoenherr-Warnez, and sister, Dana M. Warnez. Ms. Cahill is also president of Schoenherr Developments, Inc., a company that acquires, develops, constructs, and leases commercial, industrial, and office properties.
Accompanying Cahill on the trip are new State Bar Representative Assembly Chairperson Ed Haroutunian, State Bar President-Elect Ronald D. Keefe, and External Affairs Manager Candace Crowley.
