Reide Appointed to ABA Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity Committee

9/19/06

State Bar of Michigan Director of Justice Initiatives Jerome Reide has been appointed vice chair of the American Bar Association's Committee on Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity.

The committee, part of the ABA's Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities, educates those in the legal field about the protection and advancement of civil rights and equal opportunities. The group also develops, implements, and publicizes policies promoting awareness and understanding of civil rights issues affecting a variety of subject areas and communities.

Reide, who holds a law degree from Hofstra University Law School, a master's from Columbia University, a master's and a doctorate in political science from Michigan State University, joined the State Bar of Michigan in June 2005. He oversees and directs programs in justice policy, pro bono service, equal access to the courts, criminal issues, and fundraising efforts.
