SBM Recognizes Centennial American Inn of Court as Affinity Bar
11/27/06

The State Bar of Michigan (SBM) has recognized the Genesee County-based Centennial American Inn of Court as a special purpose bar association.

An American Inn of Court is a group of judges, attorneys, law professors, and students who meet periodically to discuss matters of interest to the legal community, emphasizing professionalism, ethics, and civility in the practice of law.

Centennial is one of six American Inns of Court in Michigan and one of more than 325 chapters active in the country. Centennial’s current president is Kathleen Buckley-O’Neill, a Grand Blanc-based attorney.

“The Centennial American Inn of Court's emphasis on skills development and legal advocacy is highly commendable and I am very pleased to welcome them as one of our affinity associations," said SBM President Kimberly M. Cahill.

As a recognized bar, Centennial and its officers will be listed in State Bar publications and directories and will be invited to participate in the annual SBM Bar Leadership Forum and other related activities.

The State Bar currently recognizes more than 130 local and special purpose bars. For more information on the activities of the affinity bars and guidelines for recognition of bars, please contact Candace Crowley, State Bar external affairs manager, at (517) 346-6319.
