Police Crime Lab Presentation Highlights
SBM Legal Assistants Section Meeting

8/25/06

A Michigan State Police presentation on crime scene investigation highlights this year's State Bar of Michigan Legal Assistants Section annual meeting. The event, held in conjunction with the SBM Annual Meeting, takes place on Friday, September 15 at the Marriott at Eagle Crest in Ypsilanti from 9-11:30 a.m.

A representative from the Michigan State Police Forensics Lab will present “CSI: Ypsilanti – What Goes on at the State Police Crime Lab?" According to state police data, the crime lab was involved in nearly 109,000 cases in 2005. The primary duties of state police forensics lab experts include investigating crime scenes, analyzing toxicology, blood alcohol, serology, and DNA evidence, and examining documents and latent prints.

In addition to the presentation, the meeting will also feature elections for several 2006-07 positions. Details on the candidates can be found on the web site listed below. A continental breakfast and business meeting precede the election. The Legal Assistants Section of the State Bar was established in 1990. Membership offers opportunities for leadership and influence on issues affecting the paralegal field.

To attend this year's meeting, contact Kathy Ann Blunck at (231) 929-4878 or kblunck@shrr.com no later than Friday, September 8. For more information about the SBM Legal Assistants Section, visit the group's website at http://www.michbar.org/legalassistants/.
