Chief Justice Visit Highlights Public Policy Summit

4/28/06

Chief Justice Clifford Taylor of the Michigan Supreme Court addressed lawyers and lawmakers at the State Bar of Michigan's annual public policy summit April 26 in Lansing. Taylor focused on the current Court’s judicial philosophy, and explained the process by which the court decides which cases to hear. The summit featured training sessions in the morning on how to effectively advocate for change in public policy before the Michigan Legislature and the media, and the process for advocating concerning court rules and administrative matters before the Supreme Court. Afternoon sessions focused on specific public policy issues and featured a roundtable discussion on issues of priority to the profession.
