Young Lawyers Section Seeks Volunteers for Back-to-School Barbecue

8/11/06

The State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section is looking for volunteers to assist with its Back-to-School Barbecue on Saturday, August 19.

The event, which runs from 1-4 p.m. at the Detroit Rescue Mission Genesis House III, offers food, games, and fun for students in kindergarten through 12th grade living in local homeless shelters. In addition to the barbeque, all kids in attendance will get a free backpack stocked with school supplies to make the 2006-07 academic year a success. Volunteers are needed to fill a variety of roles such as preparing food, serving meals, greeting and entertaining students, and stuffing backpacks.

To volunteer for the Back-to-School Barbecue, contact Susan McMann at the State Bar of Michigan at (517) 346-6367 or via e-mail at smcmann@mail.michbar.org. Please be sure to state the capacity in which you would like to serve. For more information about the event, e-mail SBM Young Lawyers Section members Felicia O. Johnson at fjohnson@co.wayne.mi.us or Brandy Y. Robinson at bjohnson@sado.org.
