July 2007 Bar Examination Results and Admission Ceremonies


The results of the July 2007 bar examination were released to applicants on Wednesday, October 31, 2007. The results were mailed by United States Postal Service to the address registered with the Board of Law Examiners. The names of certified passers will be posted on the Board of Law Examiners' website on November 5, 2007, after Noon.

Contrary to information in your admissions packet, please do not call the local bar associations unless directed below. All admission ceremony information is web based.

Local bar associations are in the process of scheduling their admissions ceremonies. We will post information on those ceremonies as soon as we receive it from the local bars. In addition, you may visit a local bar website, provided below, or contact your local Circuit Court Clerk.

Grand Rapids Bar Association

    Date: November 21, 2007
    Time: 3:30 p.m.

    All passers are welcome to participate in this ceremony; you need not be an alumnus of Cooley Law School

    Date: Tuesday, November 20, 2007
    Time: 5 p.m.
    Location: Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Temple Building, 4 th Floor, 217 South Capitol Avenue (NE corner of Capitol and Washtenaw), Lansing
    Filing Deadline: No later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, with the Ingham
    County Circuit Court Clerk. Please see either Rebecca DeWitt or Kay Taylor in the Court Clerk's Office located on the 1st floor of Veterans Memorial Courthouse at 313 West Kalamazoo St., Lansing

United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan

    Open to all attorneys not admitted to practice in this Court

    Date: Tuesday, December 4, 2007
    Time: 4:15 p.m.
    Location: Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette Blvd., Detroit
    Additional Information: Submit a letter stating that you wish to attend the ceremony along with a check for $200, payable to "Clerk, U.S. District Court" to the Clerk's Office at the above address before November 20. Upon receipt of your check, Court staff will send you an application for admission, other materials, and directions to the Courthouse. Bring your completed application with you the day of the Ceremony. Sponsors will be provided during the mass swearing-in ceremony. More Information PDF

Washtenaw County Bar Association

    Location: Washtenaw County Courthouse, 101 E. Huron St., Ann Arbor, Room 8
    Additional Information: If you are interested in attending, please contact Court Services at (734) 222-3001 to be put on the list. They will need your name and address, and the name of your sponsor, if you have one. (In order for you to be sworn in to the Michigan Bar, an attorney licensed to practice in Michigan must act as your sponsor and move for your admission to the bar.) If you do not have a sponsor, you may contact Co-Presidents of the New Lawyers Section, Jacob Gunter (734) 913-8110 or Bonnie Shaw (734) 302-6000 who will arrange for a member of the New Lawyers Section to move for your admission. You need to bring your letter of certification to Court Services on the first floor of the Washtenaw County Courthouse by noon on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 and be prepared to pay a $25 admission fee, payable to the Washtenaw County Clerk.
