"It is an honor to be a part of the leadership team of the Representative Assembly and to help resolve policy issues that confront the legal profession," Gardella said.

Gardella was elected to the 150-member Representative Assembly in 1999. He has served on various committees and as vice-chair and clerk of the Assembly. He is also a member of the State Bar Board of Commissioners and the SBM Executive Committee. He was president of the Livingston County Bar Association from 1998-1999 and is a current member of the State Bar's Consumer, Family Law, and General Practice sections. Gardella is also a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, an honorary distinction based on professional legal excellence and community contributions.
