SBM Legal Assistants Section Banquet, Annual Day of Education Seminar Scheduled for May 3-4
4/24/07

The State Bar of Michigan Legal Assistants Section has scheduled a dinner banquet and its Annual Day of Education seminar for Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4 at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth.

The event gets underway Thursday with a banquet starting at 6:30 p.m. Highlighting the evening is guest speaker Dr. Diane Buffalin, whose presentation “Winning Without Fighting” uses wit and wisdom to explain how biology influences behavior. The banquet, which is free for the first 80 seminar registrants, celebrates Legal Assistants Day and is sponsored by the Legal Assistants Association of Michigan, Inc.

Friday’s Day of Education seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Vicki Voison, a past chair of the Legal Assistants Section, former president of the National Association of Legal Assistants, and a nationally known speaker on ethics for legal support staff, will deliver the keynote address. The morning session concludes with a presentation on electronic discovery. The afternoon session is divided into two tracks – one focusing on employment law and the other on general litigation.

Registration is $70 for section members and $80 for non-members. A registration form and complete event schedule is located on the Legal Assistants Section page of the State Bar of Michigan website at http://www.michbar.org/legalassistants/pdfs/2007ed_reg.pdf.
